演講者簡介 : Ms. Yan-Jyuan Li is a Pre-Doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Economics, Academia Sinica, supporting Associate Research Fellow Tzu-Ting Yang and Han Yang. She received her M.A. in Economics from National Taiwan University and her B.A. in Economics from National Tsing Hua University. Her research interests are Applied Econometrics and Environmental Economics.
演講摘要 : This research investigates where leakages occur along global value chains (GVCs) under two counterfactual exercises: (i) countries implementing carbon pricing; and (ii) the European Union (EU) implementing the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). We develop a quantitative trade and environmental model that extends the frameworks of Antràs and Chor (2018) and applies the decomposition approach of Meng et al. (2018). Our findings show that carbon leakages occur along GVCs when countries impose domestic carbon taxes, whereas reverse leakages emerge under the implementation of the EU CBAM. Moreover, we find that these policies have differential effects on intermediate goods and final goods.
