  • 演講摘要 : Using administrative data from Taiwan, this paper provides causal evidence of an intergenerational spillover effect from children's financial education to parental financial decision-making. Specifically, following college enrollment, parents whose child majors in finance demonstrate higher rates of stock market participation relative to those whose child pursues other fields. This result underscores the transmission of financial literacy from offspring to parents. The effect is found to be more pronounced in single-child households and in cases where neither parent had previously participated in the stock market. Moreover, mothers appear to be more responsive to this intergenerational spillover. These findings highlight the influence of children in shaping the financial behavior of parents and households.
