演講者簡介 : Professor Zhi Wang received his Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota in 1994. He is a Research Professor and Senior Policy Research Fellow at George Mason University. His research interests are Computable General Equilibrium Modeling, Value Chain in Global Production Network, Measuring Trade in Value-added, Data Reconciliation Methods, Economic Integration among Greater China Area, Chinese Economies, and International Trade.
演講摘要 : We identify and quantify components of global value chain (GVC) activities in 77 economies from 2000-2020 with special attention to contributions from cross-border direct investment (FDI). We find that FDI-related GVC activities account for about half of total global GVC activities. The relative importance of FIEs in GVC participation—as both suppliers and users—has increased markedly in most countries. FDI-related GVC activities are less volatile during economic fluctuations than either other components of GVC activities or non-GVC activities.
