  • 演講摘要 : This paper examines earnings income inequality and dynamics in Taiwan using the administrative income tax data. The measures and methodology is harmonized with the Global Repository of Income Dynamics (GRID) Project, allowing for cross-country comparisons. Analyzing the distribution and mobility of earnings over 2004-2020, we document the patterns and characteristics of earnings in the Taiwanese labor market. Earnings inequality steadily declined during this period, mainly due to the upsurge of the bottom 10% earnings group. The skewness and kurtosis of earnings gradually increased. We document heterogeneity in idiosyncratic earnings changes across gender and age groups. Our analysis of earnings mobility over a 10-year period indicates a common patterns of life-cycle earnings changes.
