On the Structure of Nash Equilibria: an Algebraic Topology Approach

演講者簡介 : Professor Sun received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Ohio State University at 2008. He is currently a Senior lecturer at Deakin University. His research fields are Game Theory, Industrial Organization and Contract Theory.
演講摘要 : In this paper I present the following two results on the structure of Nash equilibria:
1. A Sandwich Theorem. Let G be a generic n×n two person game. If G has an even order distribution, then given a collection of pure-strategy Nash equilibria, there is a mixed-strategy NE in which each pure strategy is played with positive probability.
2. An alternative proof on GPS (1993)’s result that if a generic n person game G has k Nash equilibria in pure strategies, then there are at least k-1 mixed-strategy equilibria.
