  • 演講摘要 : We examine the role of taxation in the hedonic price model under imperfect competition. It is shown that taxes affect the equilibrium price locus of a differentiated product directly and indirectly through interactions with the product attributes. Our theoretical results suggest a means to simultaneously recover the price-cost markup and the marginal values of product attributes from hedonic price estimation in an imperfectly competitive market, increasing both the applicability and reliability of hedonic valuation methods. Based on our analytical results, we discuss alternative estimation strategies of the hedonic price model under imperfect competition. To demonstrate the proposed empirical hedonic model in an imperfectly competitive market, a study to examine the impact of snowfall on ski lift ticket prices is presented.
