演講者簡介 : Tai-Wei Hu got his Ph.D. in Economics from Penn State University in 2009. He is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His research field is in complexity issues in game theory, decision theory, and foundations of monetary economics.
演講摘要 : The game theoretical concepts, Nash equilibrium and rationalizability, are different, but can be regarded as describing the same target problem, i.e., individual ex ante decision making. In this paper, we resolve this conundrum by giving parallel derivations of these concepts. The derivations pinpoint their difference only in the use of quantifiers: The universal quantifier for the prediction of the other player's decision is in the former and the existential quantifier for the latter: From their derivations with the manifested difference, we examine the intended interpretations of those concepts. It is argued that the former is faithful to the target problem and may be the start for further developments, while the latter suffers from various conceptual twists and difficulties.
