  • 演講摘要 : The full-time-and-full-year participation rate of prime-age men in the United States decreases from 1967 to 1982, then it begins increasing. This study examines if the increase in the full-time-and-full-year participation rates indicates a rise in the male labor supply. The male labor supply rises conditioned on wages. While wages accounts for only 72% of total compensation, employer-provided health insurance, a major part of fringe benefits, contributes most of the rising full-time-and-full-year participation rates. Accordingly, if including benefits from employer-provided health insurance as a part of broader defined compensation, the data is consistent with a static male labor supply.
