Transportation

There are two airports in Northern Taiwan: (1) Taipei Songshan Airport  (2) Taoyuan International Airport.

Taipei Songshan Airport is a mid-size commercial airport which is located just in Taipei City. Only flights depart from Haneda Airport, Gimpo Airport, and several Chinese Cities could land in this airport. Other international flights land in Taoyuan International Airport which is located about 40 km west of Taipei in Dayuan Township, Taoyuan County, Taiwan.

How to commute between the Airport and Taipei City

Taoyuan International Airport website offers comprehensive transportation information including ticket prices from Taoyuan International Airport to Taipei City. No matter which type of transportation you choose, it usually takes 1~1.5 hours to reach Taipei City.

Taipei Songshan Airport website also offers verious ways of transportation for visitors to choose from. Since the Airport is already inside Taipei City, the required travel time depends on your destination.


How to commute between the Airports and the Conference Venue

★ From Taoyuan International Airport to the Conference Venue

There are two recommended ways to travel from the airport to the Conference Venue (IEAS):

  1. Take Highway bus 1843 (Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation) from the airport and get off at MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station. Then take a city bus outside MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station (Exit 5), and get off at Hu-Shih Park Stop (Academia Sinica's side entrance) (the detail of how to take city buses can be found in the next paragraph). The Institute of Economic is the first building on the right-hand side after you go through the side entrance.
  2. Take a taxi at the airport. Toward Hu-Shih Park and get off at the side entrance of Academia Sinica. The taxi fare is about USD$40 (the amount may be different depends on the route and time).

★ From Taipei Songshan Airport to the Conference Venue

  1. Take the MRT from MRT Songshan Airport Station to MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station (Brown Line). Then take a city bus outside MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station (Exit 5), and get off at Hu-Shih Park Stop (Academia Sinica's side entrance) (the detail of how to take city buses can be found in the next paragraph). The Institute of Economic is the first building on the right-hand side after you go through the side entrance.




  2. Take a taxi at the airport. Toward Hu-Shih Park and get off at the side entrance of Academia Sinica. The taxi fare is about USD$10 (the amount may be different depends on the route and time).


How to commute between the City and the Conference Venue

To the Conference Venue

Via MRT: Take the MRT Bannan (Blue) line or Wenhu (Brown) line to MRT Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station (Exit 5), walk across the Academia Road, and take bus 205, 276, 306, 620, or 645. Get off at "Hu-Shih Park Stop"(Academia Sinica's side entrance). The Institute of Economic is the first building on the right-hand side after you go through the side entrance. Instead of the city buses, you may also take a taxi. The taxi fare is about USD$4 from MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station to Academia Sinica.


From the Conference Venue

To MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station: At Academia Sinica, take bus 205, 276, 306, 620, or 645 to MRT Nangang Exhibition Center. You can also take a Taxi (ask the staff to call a cab for you).

Taxi

Taxis are available 24 hours a day. Credit cards are rarely accepted. It is not necessary to tip taxi drivers. All of the taxis are yellow and have digital meters.

  • Bus fares can also be paid with a MRT EasyCard (with a transfer discount for users transferring between metro and bus).
